Rear bumper with LED light kit and wiring harness for Kawasaki Mule Pro DXT 6 seater
Awesome bumper and bright lights. ( background: Retired Navy SEAL, shade tree mechanic, repaired motorcycles at a dealer in College). First the install of the bumper: Day one: it's heavy and takes two people to jockey it in place. No instructions and the videos on line were little help. The main pins went in fine, however the holes for the other 4 mounting screws would not line up with the bumper mount. Also the screws are near impossible to fit due to a lack of room to work because of the tailgate. After removing the tailgate, side panels and placing a scissor jack under the bumper to raise it where the holes would line up, I finally got it (6 hours). Day two: lights were easy to put in, not sure why the screws were 2 inches long, only need about 1/2 inch. Started the wiring harness from the back working toward the front. Completed it to the point where I had to start removing floorboards to run the wires (3 hours). Day 3: Removed rear floor boards, zip tied the harness up to the front seat. Hooked it up to the battery, screw hole on the relay was too small to fit an existing screw near the battery, so had to drill it out and make it bigger. Removing the floor boards was easy, but putting them back in, holy cow. All plastic with tabs and slots -took hours to reinstall (5 hours) Day 4: Removed front floor board and dash panel. Quickly saw the wiring harness was about 4 feet too short. Had to splice in a 3 wire 4 foot piece using some from my stash of misc crap in my garage. Tried running the wire down from the inside of the dash to the floor to the electrical coupling now under the front seat with no joy. Tried a wire coat hanger, also no joy. Frustrated and quit for the day (7 hours). Day 5 (today): Jacked the mule up, removed the skid plate and ran a coat hanger up from the bottom, taped the wires to the coat hanger and finally pulled them through ( commence happy dance). ran the wire along the main wiring harness and plugged in the connection. Tested lights -they work! Felt like Clark Griswald on Xmas Eve. Reinstalled the floorboard, again a wrestling mach the line up all the plastic pieces (Large screw driver to pry, small screwdriver to finesse, hammer to relieve stress when it wouldn't fit). Replaced skid plate and dashboard (5 hours). Now onto the nerf bars which should be easy compared to this.
